After completing her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Emma pursued a 15+year career in super-yachting as a Chef. Seeing and experiencing a vacuum in the industry around mental health training, awareness, signposting and resources, Emma sought to find a seafarer specific solution. Having completed a two-day Mental Health First Aid course, Emma found what she believes to be the most progressive resource available for anyone in the maritime industry. Emma qualified as a MHFA Instructor member and gained her Royal Society for Public Health Level 3 Award in Mental Health First Aid and brings her experience and expertise to any and all mentalHealth trainings she facilitates through her company SEAS THE MIND.

ISCA Wellbeing discovered that seafaring crew members were significantly more vulnerable to a decline in their physical and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our collaboration with mental health educators and a clinical psychologist allowed us to develop courses that benefit the marine sector as a whole. Everyone involved has worked in the maritime industry and understands the unique challenges of life at sea. ISCA Wellbeing’s ultimate goal is to give the maritime industry the tools to proactively improve productivity, mental and physical well-being, rather than having to respond to a crisis.
