As a Captain I know firsthand the unique challenges and pressures faced by those in the yachting industry. The fast-paced, high-pressure environment, isolation, and issues like drug and alcohol abuse, sexual assault and bullying can take a toll on the mental well-being of crew members and industry professionals alike. It’s time to take action and prioritize mental health.

I created this pledge with the goal of building a supportive community for everyone at sea.

TAKE THE YACHTIE MINDS MATTER PLEDGE
By taking this pledge, I commit to:

Creating a Culture of Support

I will foster an environment, on and off board, where open conversations about mental health are encouraged, respected, and free of stigma.

Providing Resources

I will actively seek out and share valuable resources, tools, and services that support the mental well-being of my crew and peers. This includes promoting therapy, mental health workshops, MFHA certification courses and wellness programs

Prioritizing Self-Care and Crew Well-Being

I will lead by example, taking time to manage my own mental health while encouraging my team to prioritize theirs. I will advocate for balanced workloads, proper rest, and healthy communication on board.

Championing Mental Health Education

I will continuously educate myself and my crew on the importance of mental health, helping to build a more informed, compassionate, and resilient team.

Speaking Up and Offering Support

I pledge to speak out against any stigma or barriers preventing access to mental health support and to be a source of encouragement to anyone in need. I will always make myself available as a listening ear and advocate for those who may be struggling.

Join me in making a lasting change—because Yachtie Minds Matter, on and off the water.

Let’s make a difference in the yachting community, one signature at a time.
