Pam Kern, MS, LCSW, CCISM
Hello and thanks for stopping by. If you were wondering what the letters mean after the names, here’s a brief note about credentials: MS is a master’s degree. LCSW stands for Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the United States. CCISM refers to Certified Critical Incident Stress Management, a certification from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.
I have the insight of a seafarer, the heart of a clinician. With a unique blend of 18 years as a professional seafarer and over a decade of clinical experience as a psychotherapist, I understand the maritime industry from the inside out. I have lived the high-pressure realities of life at sea and spent the last decade helping people navigate the complexities of the mind.
Advocating for global psychological safety, I am recognized as #7 of the Top 100 Women in Shipping. My work is dedicated to fostering a culture of psychological safety across the global maritime community. Whether I am providing direct clinical support in maritime through psychotherapy and counseling, consulting with shipping organizations, or speaking at international conferences, I am passionate about creating environments where wellbeing and operational excellence go hand in hand.
I would welcome the opportunity to hear your perspective and explore how we can work together to address experiences ranging from everyday stress and challenges to severe trauma.
